CREW Upstate Hosts Southeast Chapters for a Spotlight on Greenville, SC
CREW Upstate hosted the CREW Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta, and Midlands chapters of the organization for a walking tour of downtown Greenville on Friday September 30th. Following the tour, lunch was provided at Lazy Goat while panelists Ralph Settle with Real Ops Investments, Jay Alexander with Windsor Aughtry Company, and Paul Holder with AVTEX were led in a discussion regarding local development by Anne-Marie Moehring with Harper Corporation. Ralph Settle highlighted the development of Markley Station and the unique challenges it brings including finding the right tenants for the space, and working with the neighborhood association and design review board. Jay Alexander spoke about the hotel market in Greenville and the exciting opportunities his latest project, Embassy Suites in Riverplace, brings to the city. Paul Holder talked about the unique elements that his current project, Lewis Plaza, presents including features of an urban shopping center, the return of Harris Teeter back to Greenville, and the logistics of renovating a shopping center amidst open and active businesses. The event concluded with Mayor Knox White, who spoke about some of the history of Greenville, how we “found our waterfall”, and why Greenville, SC is the amazing city it is today.
